Kitsap SEED Project Ground Breaking Ceremony

(Port Orchard, Washington) - On Friday, October 12, the Port of Bremerton will have a ground breaking ceremony for the Kitsap SEED Project (Sustainable Energy and Economic Development). The ground breaking ceremony will be held at 11am at the site near the Bremerton National Airport, at SW State Hwy 3.

The Kitsap SEED project is a multifaceted program centered on a clean technology business park to be located on Port property southwest of Bremerton including a business incubation program for this rapidly growing business sector. A second facet of Kitsap SEED is a sustainable business practices program for park tenants and those in the wider Kitsap and Puget Sound community. When built out, the 75-acre site will grow to one million square feet of building space with 2,000 workers.

“Our investment in SEED and the sustainable practices initiative will ensure that Kitsap’s leadership role, in perhaps the most rapidly growing business sector in the world, remains intact as we grow through the years,” stated Port of Bremerton Commission President Mary Ann Huntington.

The architectural firm chosen for the SEED project, Mithun of Seattle, gave a presentation in Silverdale this week at the sixth annual Clean Tech Summit of the West Sound Technology Professionals Association. Mithun is a national leader in green-build and clean technology integration and has project experience internationally.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) platinum building standards are targeted. SEED’s goals include designing and integrating a range of resources that allow businesses to most efficiently realize the benefits of co-location, advanced technology facilities and community resources. SEED will showcase sustainable development and innovative business operating practices. Pioneer companies at SEED’s business park will inhabit office space that demonstrates and promotes their technologies.
